If you live in a windy place, and can site a unit over 150 m from neighbours, Wind Turbines are a "no brainer" to harvest that abundant free energy. There power can be diverted to heat your home or business for free and seriously cut your carbon footprint.
At present the government has made it almost impossible to get planning permission - Mostly due to opposition from a small but vocal minority of "conservative" climate change deniers. Well have to wait for a political shift before it becomes feasable again!
That said, enviromental are importing a small , quiet turbine that has permissive development rights that is suitable for some applications.
